Production Stage Manager
Summary of Position
The Production Stage Manager is at the center of the LINES Ballet pre-production and technical production team. He or she is responsible for all technical work in the theater during home seasons in San Francisco and on tour (domestic and international), as well as the overall organization of production materials & schedules. The Production/ Stage Manager should be able to: call the show; possess the necessary technical skills to procure and utilize technical equipment; read, adapt, and hang and focus light plots as needed; assess the needs/capabilities of theaters; and have a solid knowledge of VectorWorks, LightWright, and AutoCad. He or she also needs a good working knowledge of various lighting consoles and sound-boards, and be competent in rigging. The Company is looking for someone who is not only technically proficient but also has a talent for foreseeing potential problems and devising creative solutions to them, and who will establish clear lines of communication between artistic staff, artistic collaborators, composers, musicians, lighting designers, technical personnel, and venue staff. The Production Stage Manager is expected to work in a professional and timely manner on a variety of technical, pre- and post-production projects; he or she will make safety a priority in the theater, and will endeavor to maintain positive relations with theater staff and crew.
Responsibilities
• Consult with artists to establish and facilitate production needs
• Assess technical capacity of potential touring venues
• Coordinate with Associate Artistic Director on production budgets
• Read and adapt light plots; hang & focus lights, and manage rigging, in touring venues
• Generate & coordinate production and technical schedules for each performance
• Organize and coordinate all theater rehearsals and performances
• Facilitate communication between artists, designers, and theater technical crew
• Hire and manage crew as necessary
• Adapt plots, cues, and call sheets for each venue
• Research and negotiate the purchase or rental of technical equipment
• Schedule and oversee load-in and strike
• Stage Manage (including calling the show) for all performances
• Oversee maintenance and transport of equipment
• Generate, maintain and organize production files for new and repertory works
• Deliver all production paperwork to LINES Ballet office after each performance
